Sizewell A achieves a magnificent milestone

Decommissioning work in the turbine hall has made magnificent progress ahead of demolition. The metal de-planted from turbines one and two far exceeded the 2023/4 target.

Wendy Heath, Senior Project Manager, said: “The target for the end of the financial year was for 2107 tons but the site achieved 2498 tons – that’s almost the weight of Blackpool Tower! This is an amazing achievement for the site and huge thanks to everyone involved with this project, with a special thanks to supply chain partner Erith and the team for getting us to this magnificent total.”

Alan Walker, Site Director, said: “What an excellent start for me here at Sizewell A to see the site exceed the target for 2023/4.  Congratulations on the safe delivery of this milestone and job well done to all involved.”
