Dungeness lays the foundations for three new waste facilities
Huge progress has been made in the construction of three replacement intermediate level waste buildings at Dungeness.
Foundations have been laid for all three buildings and cladding walls are in progress on two. They will contain the package handling facility, the wet waste facility/drum store and the waste transfer building.
The existing waste facilities are within the earmarked demolition zone for removing the eight boilers and ancillary buildings scheduled for April 2025.
Vicki Baxter, Senior Project Manager, explained: “It was a steep learning curve for the principal contractor when they first started work on site, but now they are on the ground things are progressing quickly.
We continue to receive excellent support from all the other teams around Dungeness A, so it’s great to see that effort being rewarded with the new buildings taking shape.”
