Turbine hall project update

The turbine hall project at Sizewell A is now into a few months of the heavy de-plant stage, and recently saw the removal of the turbo generator rotor from site for the last time.

Wendy Heath Senior Project Manager said: “It was a major achievement to see the rotor leaving site. During its 40-year operational lifetime, it had produced 110 TWh of electricity, which would have been sufficient to meet the domestic needs of England and Wales for six months.”

Ian Cuthbert, Site Director said: “The turbine hall de-plant is a major project for the site and this was a great success for all staff involved.”
