Councillor Archie Dryburgh MBE

Chair

I am a local councillor for Dumfries & Galloway Council covering the Annandale East and Eskdale Ward since being first elected in 2007.

I worked at Chapelcross for 27 years, first in the operations department on shifts and ended up in the training and development department at Magnox, before taking redundancy in 2013.

Prior to leaving Magnox I constructed the nuclear operators first aid course which covered first aid, defibrillator, casualty handling, oxygen therapy and decontamination of wounds which was successfully rolled out across the Magnox sites.

I have used my skills gained at Chapelcross to continue first aid and defibrillator training for local community groups and was first aid officer for the first five years of Annan Athletic FC being in the Scottish Professional Football League.

I was elected Chair of Chapelcross site stakeholder group in 2017.

I am married to Liz and we celebrated our 40^th Anniversary in 2022.

I am the Armed Forces champion for Dumfries & Galloway council and also the Area Secretary for Royal British Legion Scotland for the Glasgow, Ayrshire Dumfries & Galloway area covering 34 branches and nine clubs.

I received an MBE in the Queens New Year Honours 2019 for services to the Armed Forces and local authority.
